Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develops plans for testing and debugging automation equipment while applying knowledge of engineering technology as necessary.
  • Programs, troubleshoots and evaluates any design considerations on new and existing systems and equipment.
  • Designs engineering solutions that meet the manufacturing facilities requirements while monitoring budget constraints in order to maximize production equipment quality and efficiency.
  • Preparation of the scope of a project, cost justification and AFE (overall cost proposal) to senior management for approval as required.
  • Maintains awareness of and controls project cost, quality, scope and schedule to ensure on time delivery of projects within internal budgets. Prepares any necessary progress reports for management.
  • Leads or participates in engineering design reviews as required.
  • Evaluates, selects and coordinates with outside vendors for design, machining and fabrication of tooling and systems.
  • Work with vendor/integrator to create more efficient project methods and to guarantee the project's profitability and success.
  • Manage automation project installations/implementations.
  • Design the requirements and work to develop reporting and new dashboards to ensure productivity, quality and operational KPIs are tracked and monitored. Providing analysis to ensure optimum ROIs are achieved.
  • Monitor uptime & downtime metrics
  • Oversee quality assurance tasks on budgets, schedules, plans, and personnel performance and reporting on the project's status.
  • Work with operations/organization teams through the implementation and post implementation of automation projects.
  • Validate automation design and initiate the necessary corrective actions with internal and vendor/integrator teams.
  • Follow-up on pending issues with vendors/integrators and ensure corrective actions are completed.
  • Responsible for working with vendors, project management, technology, strategy on multiple simultaneous projects including automation, system enhancement and cost saving initiatives.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize projects and delegate tasks appropriately.
  • Design automated equipment and solutions to improve manufacturing processes
  • Define areas where automation could improve production and efficiency
  • Provides technical support in relation to automated systems
  • Own the technology and process and centerline settings for the equipment and process
  • Designing new automation equipment or processes
  • Simulating and testing these processes or equipment to ensure they function as desired
  • Developing and maintaining clear and accurate documentation of automation equipment or processes
  • Able to develop and implement specialized IQ/OQ/PQ documents for automation equipment.

The Individual
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field required
  • Preferred green belt
  • Preferred to be fluent in Spanish.
  • 30% travel depending on location.
  • Problem solver and mechanically inclined with strong PC skills.
  • Minimum 8 years experience in implementing automation projects
  • Broad knowledge of electrical controls engineering, including electrical codes
  • Experience with robotics, conveyors, sortation systems, and other automated material handling equipment
  • Strong sense of urgency and the ability to embrace and maximize a changing landscape
  • Extensive process knowledge, planning abilities, problem solving, and organizational skills
  • Builds strong interpersonal relationships and motivates cross functional teams to operate in a cohesive manner
  • Quantitative expertise in conducting business analysis, utilizing economics, financial statements, and statistics
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and analytical skills
  • High speed assembly, manufacturing, and Automation experience. More than one area is preferred
  • Highly Collaborative: highly accountable and autonomous and naturally works well with the team to seek innovative solutions and can identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to meet the company’s goals

  • Highly organized and process-oriented Experience with risk assessment, management, and contingency planning Microsoft Office Products high comfort level is a must. Including Excel and Project.
